Delta Zeta Wins National Awards!
The Beta Gamma Chapter & Louisville Alumnae Chapter... award winners at the 49th Delta Zeta Convention held in Tucson from June 29th through July 4th. Delta Zeta Sweeps Greek Awards (Again!)
The annual Greek Life awards were held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. The Beta Gamma chapter won many awards; below is a listing of these awards and the awards that the chapter took home from the Campus Life Award

Delta Zeta Turns 80 at U of L!
The Beta Gamma chapter at U of L recently turned 80 years old! Our purpose unites our sisterhood of over 200,000 members nationwide!
"The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in the bonds of sincere and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote the moral and social culture of its members, and to develop plans for guidance and unity in actions; objects worthy of the highest aim and purpose of associated effort."

Delta Zeta Wins Homecoming!
The Beta Gamma chapter of Delta Zeta dominated this year's homecoming celebration at the University of Louisville. The chapter won the Greek Homecoming Spirit Award (with our fraternity partners - Phi Kappa Tau and Tau Kappa Epsilon)! Senior, Nicole Wells-Anik (left - below) served as the Homecoming chairman. Senior, Karen Clough (right - below) was named to the top 10 list of homecoming queen candidates and was elected to homecoming court. Senior, and chapter president, Debbie Whitelock was also named to the top 10. Delta Zeta's Beau, Michael Rolf was nominated by Delta Zeta as a king candidate and was named to the top 10 and also voted on to the king court.
Delta Zeta Crowns the 2010 Miss U of L
CONGRATULATIONS MELANIE! WINNER OF THE MISS CONGENIALITY TITLE AT THE 2010 MISS KENTUCKY PAGEANT!
On Wednesday, March 3, 2010, the Delta Zeta sorority at the University of Louisville hosted the 2010 Miss University of Louisville pageant (a Miss Kentucky/Miss America Preliminary pageant). Delta Zeta awarded $9,000 in scholarship money to the top three contestants in addition to $2600inin-kind gifts to all 14 contestants. University of Louisville Music School student, Melanie Brison, was crowned the 2010 Miss U of L and represented the university in the Miss Kentucky pageant in July. Melanie also received the Miss U of L Community Service and evening gown awards. For more information regarding the Miss U of L pageant visit the website at;

Beta Gamma wins National Awards
The 48th National Convention of Delta Zeta was held from June 26 through June 30, 2008, at the Doral Country Club in Miami, Florida. The Beta Gamma Chapter won four major awards and was also recognized by the Delta Zeta Foundation in two other areas. Nationally, Beta Gamma ranks as one of the top twenty chapters for the 2006-2008 Biennium.
Awards included the following:
National New Member Education Certificate (only 12 were given)
National Philantrophy Certificate (only 12 were given)
Recognized for service hours performed by DZ chapters....our members performed 177 hours each over the two year period ranking us third in the nation.
National membership award presented to the Beta Gamma Chapter for pledging quota during formal recruitment for 29 years straight!
National membership award for maintaining campus total for two consecutive years.
Recognition by the Delta Zeta Foundation as an official sponsor of Convention/Beta Gamma provided a donation which helped to cover the cost of convention speakers.
Recognition by the Delta Zeta Foundation for 100% participation by the chapter in the DZ Loyalty Fund for two consecutive years.
Chapter President, Amanda Keeling, was asked to serve on the convention Philantrophy committee.
Beta Gamma Royalty
December Parker (left) was named as one of the five young women were selected from a group of 28 Derby Festival Princess finalists. She is photographed with Delta Zeta alumnae and former princesses, Tara Lutz Schwartz (center) and Rachel Shee Overstreet. The Derby Festival Princesses act as ambassadors for the Derby Festival and the city as they represent the community at a variety of functions, including an appearance on NBC's Today Show.Delta Zeta has had over seven Beta Gamma members chosen as Derby Princesses over the past 15 years.
Congratulations to chapter members Nicole Wells Anik for being names a 2010 Finalist and 2nd Alternate and to Rachel Meyer for being named a 2009 Finalist!
2010 Greek Fryberger Sing
The Beta Gamma chapter of Delta Zeta again impressed the crowd at this year's Fryberger Greek Sing with a DZ "GLEE" arrangement. Delta Zeta took home third place.
Delta Zeta has won the Greek sing the last 12 out of 17 years! When DZ has not won the competition, we have placed in the top three performances.
Delta Zeta House Makeover
In 1986 DZ was the first sorority at the University of Louisville to renovate a greek chapter house to accomodate live-in chapter members. In the summer of 2005, DZ installed a new sprinkler system and the DZ house received a $125,000.00 face-lift. The renovation included new carpet, paint, furnishings, kitchen counters and decorations. Since 1986, DZ has invested $200,000.00 in to the upkeep of our chapter house!
Delta Zeta Auction Raised a Record Amount
The 2009 Delta Zeta Auction was held on Friday, September 25, 2009. This year's auction raised a record $21,800 (gross). Special thanks to all of our parents, and alumnae who contributed to the auction in some way. Proceeds will benefit the Delta Zeta Foundation, our national speech and hearing philantrophies, the Miss University of Louisville pageant, and other chapter projects.
Delta Zeta Supports Dance Marathon
The dance marathon was held February 20-21 and the Beta Gamma chapter members very involved. Our Beta Gamma members were featured in the UL Today on-line magazine for their involvement.
Delta Zeta Wins Phi Tau Step Show
Congratulations to the DZ Steppers for winning the 2009 Phi Tau step show held on October 29th. Their step theme was "Futuristic" Delta Zetas!
