On Tuesday, January 8, 2008, December Parker (left) was named as one of the five young women were selected from a group of 28 Derby Festival Princess finalists. Those 28 were chosen from the original group of 114 applicants from 19 schools in Kentucky and Indiana. She is photographed with Beta Gamma alumnae and former princesses, Tara Lutz Schwartz (center) and Rachel Shee Overstreet. (Tara was actually crowned Queen of the Kentucky Derby Festival). The Beta Gamma chapter has a long line of members who have been selected as princesses. The Derby Festival Princesses act as ambassadors for the Derby Festival and the city as they represent the community at a variety of functions, including an appearance on NBC's Today Show.

The Beta Gamma chapter again impressed the crowd at this year's Fryberger Greek Sing with their version of the award winning musical, "CHICAGO." Delta Zeta finished the competition in third place. The Beta Gamma chapter has won the competition for the last 12 out of 16 years! When DZ has not won the competition, we have placed in the top three performances. |
